Comment (Scroll down for yesterday's post): Yesterday at the World Gas Conference (WGC) in Kuala Lumpur, our friend, Dan Yergin (NGP Photo), said US oil production will be up by a million barrels per day this year along with dramatically increased gas production and that if one included Canadian production increases, North America could be "a lot less energy dependent" in the next ten years. Meanwhile, in Vancouver, B.C.,
Canada at the summer meeting of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission, North Dakota's Deputy Director for Mineral Resources (Oil and Gas), Bruce Hicks (NGP Photo), reported that the state's oil production was continuing to increase dramatically. The state's 7,000 wells positioned over the Bakkan Shale play centered in Hick's state but touching other states and Canadian provinces, is also producing demand for thousands of workers. Housing is tight, however, and Hicks says, "If you come to North Dakota bring your house with you!" North Dakota has nudged ahead of Alaska and Calafornia oil production rates over the last year and has Texas in its sights. Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commissioner, Dan Seamount, identified a number of prospective prarts of Alaska that could again result in record 49th state domestic oil production if certain energy policy positions were to improve the investment climate. -dh
