Dan Fagan and Dave Harbour Discussed ‘All Things Oil & Gas‘ Last Friday (Hour 2)
Alaska Dispatch by Rena Delbridge. Tuesday night, State Pipeline Coordinator Mark Meyers and Division of Oil and Gas Director Kevin Banks will answer gas pipeline questions at Begich Middle School.
(At 9 a.m. Tuesday, they will appear before the Anchorage Mayor’s Energy Task Force at City Hall to discuss the South Central Alaska natural gas supply outlook. -dh)
Excellent points during the hour with Fagan. Focusing the issue on the State’s competitiveness is exactly the right point; it is time for the state’s policy makers to reassess a basic assumption that they have relied on for much too long (and that led to AGIA and ACES). The assumption was captured succinctly by one of the Governor’s energy advisors earlier this year, "Alaska is right where it ought to be. ‘We … have tough terms; we set the bar high. … We have world-class resources. Arkansas and Mississippi don’t.’" If that ever was true (and it wasn’t), it is clear that it is not any longer (http://bit.ly/oGFGO). As you did an excellent job pointing out, it is time for the state’s policy makers to face reality and reopen Alaska for business.
